Pastors Are People Too

Christians have had the idea that somehow pastors have a special relationship with God, that normal human beings can't or don't have. They tend to think that pastors are smarter, holier, more righteous, wiser, have greater understanding of spiritual truth, and are more spiritual. Pastors are placed on a pedestal, exalted, almost to the point of worshiping. Just because it was said by somebody in the pulpit doesn't make it true. The only thing you know must be true is the Word of God. So instead of putting unwavering faith in preachers, examine stories. John tells us to test the spirits...."Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world." 1 John 4:1 


 No doubt there are professions which God calls to a higher standard of moral code such as teachers and preachers but they have issues and flaws just as we do. Preachers are just men and women, flesh (human beings) and are not infallible. They're capable of making mistakes and are prone to sin, to error, to false beliefs, doctrines and are prone to fall from grace as anyone else. I don't care if your preacher, your momma, or your best friend says it, if it don't line up with the Word of God...spit it out! Quit making idols out of preachers! 

 It's the Lord who transforms, not your pastor. It's the Lord who elevates, not your pastor. It's the Word that renews your mind, not your pastor. It's the Lord who saves, not your pastor! 
Yes, respect leadership, the anointing and give honor to whom honor is due but remember: They are humans just like you. Please give up all this foolishness. 
Take that preacher off that pedestal before they fall off!

 Don't hate me because I tell you the truth!
